Bronco Super Celebration West
Bronco Super Celebration West
Buena vista, Colorado
Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, about two and a half hours from Denver, Buena Vista is a remote Colorado town gaining popularity for its outdoor lifestyle. An extensive network of dirt trails offer hikers, runners and mountain bikers a boundless playground and for those looking to explore via 4 wheels, there are plenty of OHV trails for every level of adventurer.
Once a year, teams of vintage Broncos take over the town for a week. A 1973 Bronco half-cab cruising down main street past the iconic Pearl Theater, a 1965 Denver Bronco sitting outside the coffee shop and a rare 1966 Roadster parked by the river. They arrive for the largest Bronco event this side of the country, Bronco Super Celebration West and if you’re interested in exploring the backcountry of our beautiful nation, then I definitely recommend checking it out.
Presented by Bronco Driver Magazine, Super Celebration West brings the Bronco community together for four days of fun, both at the historic Rodeo Grounds just outside of town and on nearby trails for off-roading adventures. This year, about 300+ Broncos attended; and there were fun competitions like the Bronco Olympics and Flex Ed where the winners took home cash prizes. I set up at the Bestop booth and signed posters for fans, then I roamed the event soaking in the scene and meeting as many folks as possible.
Ford offered a cool opportunity to get to know the new 2021 Ford Bronco with the Ford Ride & Drive experience, which was definitely a highlight of the event. I rode in the new 2021 Bronco Badlands with Charlene Bower, founder of the Ladies Off-Road Network and a woman who knows how to handle the rugged road. During our drive on the famous Four Mile Trail (which is really 11.5 miles) Charlene showed me tons of features on the new Bronco designed to make off-roading a little less intimidating for a beginner. All the different GOAT modes were a bit overwhelming at first, but as I got to see them in action, I began to understand their unique function. The sway bar disconnect feature and the Trail Turn Assist were awesome but the Baja mode was probably my favorite, but that’s probably also in part to Charlene’s bad-ass driving.
As I spent time getting to know everyone from all over the country, who shared their passion and love for Broncos with me, I sensed these folks are more than just a community, they are family. A big “thank you” to everyone who took time to talk with me. I’m excited to learn more.
I partnered with OffRoadSource.com to create a new series, Heather Storm Off Road where I discover the world of wheelin’. The first episode shows you inside Bronco Super Celebration West 2021 and premieres December 13th on OffRoadSource.com and on my YouTube Channel.
