Spicy Satsuma Margarita
February is the last month to buy delicious Satsuma mandarins. They can be added to salads or made into marmalade, but I particularly love them as a on-the-go snack because they are super easy to peel and satisfy my need for immediate healthy fruit sugar.
Since Satsumas are naturally sweet with a strong flavor but low in acidity I found them perfect for creating seasonal margaritas. High in potassium and vitamin C, this small winter citrus adds a dose of vitamins to your libation. Be sure to use high quality organic tequila, made from organic blue agave, I chose 123 Organic Tequila, an artisanal brand with slightly floral aromas.
Satsuma Mandarins are in season from November through February.
